Hi All,
Just a friendly reminder that we'll be meeting in the DesignLab 24hr space from now on.
Today you'll be completing your inductions, making test pieces (cutting, bending, forming or assembling components) or speaking with us about your discipline specific found objects. Better still, you'll show us some models you've created in 123dCatch.
Regards
Russell

Aluminium supplier
Hi All,
I've always purchased my aluminium sheet from Dalsteel Metals and have been pleased with their service and prices.
http://www.dalsteel.com.au/contacts/
I spoke to Ainslie there and she quoted me $36+gst for the 1mm sheets and $56+gst for the 1.6mm sheets (sheets are 2400mm x 1200mm, so plenty to share between two or three of you). These prices include a UNSW discount, so make sure you mention that.
These are all for 5005 aluminium ... which is the grade I recommend. Google it for an explanation of the strengths and weaknesses of different grades of aluminium.
They are out on the m5 motorway towards Liverpool. So if you can get access to a van you'll save the delivery fee.
I haven't priced other commercial alternatives, but I know you'll pay much much more if you buy smaller sheets from Bunnings. Feel free to shop around though, and if you find someone offering better value then let us know in the comments below.
Finally, there might be a business opportunity for an entrepreneurial student here.
